Jokes: 两个坏消息 – Two Pieces of Bad News

I realized last week that I have a whole section on this site for jokes, but I rarely add any. So, I’m trying to rectify that. Last week, I posted one short joke, and today I’m posting two short jokes in the same lesson, one after the other.

One I thing to point out in today’s language: I recently wrote a little lesson about 好+verb and 难+verb, discussing how these are used. The vocabulary list for today’s lesson includes two words that follow this pattern, 好用 hǎo yòng, which means “easy to use,” and 难看 nán kàn, which means “ugly (literally, ‘difficult to look at’).”

I recommend you take a look at the previous lesson if you haven’t already. I’ve classified this as a beginner read, instead of a newbie read, because in addition to some higher-level words, I think one or two of the sentence structures aren’t super straightforward, especially in the first joke.
