我在路上(了) (wǒ zài lù shàng le)

      

This phrase literally means “I am on the road” or “I’m on my way.” It’s the most common and direct way to express that you are heading somewhere.

e.g.

快到了,我在路上了。 (Kuài dào le, wǒ zài lù shàng le.) I’m almost there, I’m on my way.

我已经出发了,现在在路上。 (Wǒ yǐjīng chūfā le, xiànzài zài lù shàng.) I’ve already set off, I’m on the way now.

别急,我在路上了。 (Bié jí, wǒ zài lù shàng le.) Don’t worry, I’m on my way.

The extended phrases to express “on my way” in Chinese

我马上到 (wǒ mǎshàng dào)

      

我马上到 means “I’ll be there soon” or “I’m arriving shortly.” It’s often used when you are very close to your destination.

e.g.

我已经出门了,马上到。 (Wǒ yǐjīng chūmén le, mǎshàng dào.) I’ve left the house, I’ll be there soon.

你等一下,我马上到。 (Nǐ děng yíxià, wǒ mǎshàng dào.) Wait a bit, I’ll be there soon.

你等我一下,我马上过去。 (Nǐ děng wǒ yīxià, wǒ mǎshàng guòqù.) Wait for me a moment, I’m coming right over.

我忙完了,现在马上过去。 (Wǒ máng wán le, xiànzài mǎshàng guòqù.) I’m done with work, I’m coming over now.
